Course objectives
The aim of the course is the development of intercultural communication competence and awareness of cultural differences and specifics in international cooperation and when dealing with people from other cultural frameworks.
Learning outcomes
The graduate can:
- explain the relationship between culture and language,
- be aware of cultural differences and be able to respond to them effectively,
- apply the given knowledge and skills in practice.

Syllabus
  • Intercultural communication competence and its development.
  • Intercultural communication in the working environment, international environment.
  • Cultural dimensions and cultural specifics in the work environment (according to Hofstede, Trompenaars, Hall).
  • Understanding cultural differences and their influence on communication in an international environment, solving and managing possible problematic situations/conflicts.
  • Specifics of selected countries (relevant for NJ, FJ, RJ).
  • Reflection of intercultural topics in the teaching of professional language, analysis of intercultural content in textbooks, possibilities of developing intercultural communication competence in teaching.

Teaching methods
Presentation, simulation, discussion, analysis of practical examples.
Assessment methods
Active participation in seminars and discussions, proposal of language activities with intercultural themes.
