Course objectives
The aim of the course is put students to the ethnomusicological issue, the student will be able to understand the basic concepts, the scheme of the field, he will be able to differentiate the types, kinds and genres of the songs.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course, which is designed as an introduction to ethnomusical problem, the student will be able to understand the basic concepts, the scheme of the field, he will be able to differentiate the types, kinds and genres of the songs.
Syllabus
  • Work with musically folkloric sources, collectional fond coming from the constituent ethnographic regions of Czech republic. Listening to folk songs and instrumental music. Fokloric parallels in art music, literature and visual art. Basic terms, taxonomy of the field, terminology. Folkloric kinds and genres, functions of songs.
