Course objectives
Cimbalom Ensemble of the Faculty of Education is a musical instrumental body based on the cast of a traditional folk cimbalom band (2 violins, viola, cello, double bass, cimbalom and clarinet) which promotes the Faculty of Education and the Music Department at the concerts and other events held by the faculty or by the ensemble itself. Regular rehearsals take place once a week at the Faculty of Education MU, Poříčí 31, room 20.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to: - distinguish and stylistically interpret various musical genres of folk music, swing, jazz, cross over, etc. on his/her music instrument. - apply basic principles of improvisation in individual musical genres. - follow the basic principles of the ensemble coexistence arising from mutual musical dialogue.
Syllabus
  • The repertoire depends on the prepared performances and concerts in the particular period of the academic year. In the terms of repertoire, the cimbalom ensemble is not limited to processing and interpretation of traditional folk songs from different regions, but includes also other genre overlaps in accordance with the cast possibilities ( swing, jazz, musical repertoire, world melodies, own compositions).
