Cíle předmětu
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at the Upper-Intermediate Level. The basic study material is the coursebook New English File UPPER - Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at the Upper-Intermediate Level and communicate in the language fluently.
Výstupy z učení
Student will:
- understand the main ideas of spoken and written interaction containing also unknown experssions; the topics may be abstract
- be able to react spontaneously while interacting with a native speaker
- express themselves more or less fluently in oral production
- be able to fluently express their ideas in written production, explain their opinion on current issues
- be able to distinguish between formal and informal language
- use idiomatic expressions
Osnova
  • The basic study material is the coursebook NEF UPPER-INTERMEDIATE (Student's Book), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 3 and 4, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

Metody hodnocení
Requirements: Maximum number of points per semester: 200 Pass mark: 140 (part of this sum is also the final written test, students must obtain at least 70% for this final test - if not: two resits of the final test are offered)

Written test: 80 points

Oral test: 60 points (students gather points that are added to the total sum of points, oral tests do not have resits)

Placement test: 10 points

Progress test: 10 points. Other types of continuous assessment: 40 points

Znalost v rozsahu sylabu tohoto předmětu je předpokládána v navazujícím předmětu ZS1BP_AJ3A. Předmět má průběžné hodnocení. PLEASE NOTE! Due to the quarantine in semester Spring 2020, the written part of the credit test will be held via the Information system; the oral part will be held via ZOOM. (The written part of the test will open to all students at the same time; students will be notified of the term three weeks prior to it. Oral part - students will sign up for the terms in IS, and, 2 days before the term, they will be sent an invitation for the ZOOM meeting. One ZOOM meeting will be for two students at a time.) Other types of continuous assessment (journal, essays) have a form of online tasks.
