Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at upper-intermediate level. The basic study material is coursebook Outcomes Upper-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials. Throughout the semester students are encouraged to link theory in the classroom to practice at schools via practical tasks.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at upper-intermediate level and communicate in the language fluently.
Syllabus
  • The basic study material is the coursebook Outcomes UPPER- INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 1- 4, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

Assessment methods
Requirements: Maximum number of points per semester: 100 Pass mark: 70 (part of this sum is also the final written test, students must obtain at least 70% for this final test - if not: two resits of the final test are offered) Written test: 40 points Oral test: 30 points Placement test: 5 points Progress test: 5 points. Teacher's information
The continuous assessment regards keeping a journal with smart goals and reflection on the progress. The journal must include at least 10 entries per semester. The entries will be checked and discussed in the middle of the semester and during the oral exam. The maximum of points for the continuous assessment is 20. FOR ONLINE SEMESTER: Students are requested to secure good internet connection in order to participate in online lessons as indicated in the schedule. Students must attend these meetings with both the sound and camera on.
