- Course objectives
- Students will be able to understand basic issues of the field, be able to explain the regularities of the process of literary communication and text reception, basic aspects of the process of literary education, and be able to recognize a wider spectrum of methods and forms of work. Students will be able to creatively apply variety of approaches, teaching forms and methods while developing readership and the interpretative and creative skills of their students.
- Learning outcomes
- After completing the course, the student - will be able to explain the rules of the process of receiving an artistic text, - will understand the basic aspects of the process of literary education and the forms of didactic interpretation; - will be able to apply the gained theoretical knowledge in the conditions of the primary education; - will acquire, while directly working with literary texts, the appropriate approaches to literary texts and other areas of study; - will be able to critically assess the teaching materials and create their own.
- Syllabus
- 1. The process of reception of an artistic text, literary communication and other forms of communication in literary education. Literary educational process and its components. Stages of children's reading. Literary education in the curriculum. Objectives of literary education in relation to other components of the subject, key competences and cross-cutting themes. Reading and literacy. School curriculum. 2. Text selection. Reading books and their functions. Expressive reading, recitation, work with illustrations. Extra-literary reading. Reading workshop as a specific type of literary education lesson. Teacher's preparation for work with artistic text and its components (professional, pedagogical-psychological, methodological). Preparatory complex interpretation (diagnostics) of the text, including a concrete example of the procedure. 3. Literary educational process and its phases, functions and forms of problem questions and tasks when working with artistic texts, creativity as a way of getting to know artistic literature. The use of the E-U-R model in literary education. Teaching methods in literary education. Methodological specifics of work with artistic literature - general and fully specified procedures. Setting the teaching goal (expected learning outcomes). Methods of critical thinking in work with artistic literature. 4.-10. The focus of the seminar: Application of acquired knowledge in concrete work with artistic texts of various genres. Preparation of lessons, simulation of teaching situations and their detailed joint analysis and reflection.
