Course objectives
Upon completion of the course the students will be able to propose appropriate health promotion measures aimed at younger school-aged children, both curricular and extra-curricular; analyse educational documents and use them to assess school educational programmes and other documents in terms of health promotion, assess the didactic system; develop a thematic plan, and perform didactic preparation and presentation of a section of the educational area Man and health.
Syllabus
  • 1 Man and health – definition of the topic in current educational documents. Methods and possibilities of health education in both curricular and extra-curricular environments. Health education in everyday activities of a teacher in the first stage of elementary schools. Legislation behind health protection and health promotion of children and teachers.
  • 2 Practical application of health education in the school educational programmes and the didactic system (textbooks, workbooks, exercise books, worksheets) for the educational area Man and his world.
  • 3 – 10 Didactic transformation of the following topics: Human body, First aid, Health care, Nutrition and health (including cooking), Fundamentals of family and sex education, Habit-forming substances and health, Addictive behaviour, Personal safety, Mass emergency.
  • 11 Current health promotion programmes in the school environment. Minimum preventive programme. Preparation of school and class health promotion projects.
  • 12 Counselling provided by organizations other than schools, counselling and educational centres focused on the issue of human health.
