Course objectives

The course develops a theoretical and conceptual understanding of the field of science applied behavioral analysis. It deals with respondent and operant conditioning, issues in determining the social significance of potencial target behaviors and their sequence. It presents the principles of task analysis and analysis of relations between antecedents, target behavior and their consequences (so-called ABC recording). Furthermore, the course introduces the principles of shaping and chaining behavior, advanced approaches to increase or decrease the target behaviors and the principles of development of verbal behavior. The aim of the course is to learn students professional terms, concepts and principles of behavioral analysis. Students will learn to actively work with terms such as behavior, respondent and operant conditioning, reinforcement, extinction, punishment, stimulus control, shaping, chaining, generalization, maintenance, motivating operations, verbal behavior, etc.

Learning outcomes

Students can define advanced characteristics of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Students are familiar with the history and development of behavioural theories.
Students are acquainted with the role and tasks of a behaviour analyst and his position in the health care system.
Student can describe and explain principles of learning and behaviour according to the scientific principles of Applied Behaviour Analysis.
Student understands functional relations between antecedents, behaviour and consequences (ABC model).
Students understand and apply to practice social communication training based on the analysis of verbal behaviour.
