Course objectives
The course is led by behavioral analysts with international certification BCBA (Board Certified Behavior Analyst), who in their practice work with children with neurodevelopmental disorder. The aim of the course is to introduce students to selected behavioral procedures that can be used in the development of communication skills and in interventions focused on behavior. The course is a free continuation of the course Behavioral Approaches in Learning (its previous completion is not a condition), but focuses mainly on practicing basic skills and techniques used in children with special educational needs in behavioral interventions at home, at school or in early intervention centers.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be able to:
- measure and record data on the child's behavior and learning and perform a simple analysis
- apply basic rules and procedures of behavioral analysis in direct work with children and pupils with special educational needs
- recommend solutions in situations with less serious problem behavior

  • Basic concepts of behavioral analysis used in practice.
  • Measurement and recording data (learning and behavior)
  • Skills learning procedures - learning in the natural environment (NET), intensive learning (ITT).
  • Using prompting procedures in learning.
  • Shaping and chaining in learning everyday skills.
  • Analysis of behavioral functions, antecedent interventions, differential reinforcement and extinction.
  • Basic procedures for reducing problem behavior.

Assessment methods
Active participation in practical seminars, written elaboration of a learning plan, colloquium.
Specific requirements for individual works (scope, content, submission deadlines) will be published in the study materials. The student submits the completed tasks to the “Odevzdávárna” in the IS MU, or will present those at the seminar (according to the instructions). The teacher will provide feedback on the processed tasks.
