Course objectives
The aim of the course is to enhance knowledge concerning support of adults with SEND, people in difficult life situations, seniors and their families, acquire information about particular approaches to counseling and guidance of these target groups (e.g. Snoezelen), and support of communication and utilization of these competence in counseling and intervention. The seminars emphasize active participation of students.
At the end of the course the student:
is able to choose appropriate strategies for adults with SEND
is able to prepare appropriate intervention and support plan
understands one's own perception and needs and fundamentals of work in helping professions
Syllabus
  • support of adults with profound disabilities and adults in difficult situations
  • Concept of Basic Stimulation of adults, Snoezelen
  • support of adults with dementia and their caregivers
  • support of people with acquired brains damage, after brain damage
  • person-centered counselling, counseling focusing on one's life situation
  • strategies in residential facilities
