Course objectives
The aim of this course is to: 1) enhance students' language skills and systems to achieve B2 level of the CEFR; 2) develop students' academic and professional skills (master's thesis abstract and oral presentation).
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - understand spoken LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - understand written LSP texts at B2 level of the CEFR; - participate in spoken interactions dealing with relevant LSP issues at B2 level of the CEFR; - produce a master's thesis abstract; - use a range of specialist terminology with control; - show a good command of grammar structures at B2 level of the CEFR.

  • Topics: 1) Teaching students with specific learning difficulties; 2) Education and technology; 3) Writing a thesis abstract; 4) Research and science; 5) Teacher wellbeing.

Teaching methods
Group discussions; oral presentations; listening and reading tasks; peer review; grammar and vocabulary study.
Assessment methods
Credit requirements: 1) Attendance (max. three absences), active participation in classes, self-study/homework tasks; 2) Portfolio (70%); 3) Oral exam: monologue (3 mins) + discussion (6 mins) (30%). Students must score at least 65% in the portfolio to sit the oral exam (pass mark = 65%).
