Prerequisites
Students enrolling in the course are expected to have reached the minimum CEFR level of B1+.
This is a course of academic, specialist and specific English at the B2 CEFR level.

Course objectives
1 Students will acquire the specific and specialist vocabulary presented within the topics while using all the language skills, i.e. reading and listening comprehension, writing and speaking.
2 Students will deepen their knowledge and skills of spoken academic presentation with a single or multiple interlocutors.
3 Students will acquire the conventions of formal academic writing in English
4 Students will practise the basic principles and strategies for effective processing of the English language input on the basis of academic, specialist and specific language in the domain of the receptive language skills, to ensure both global and detailed understanding.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, the student will be able to: - understand spoken and written texts in the field of social pedagogy at the CEFR B2 level
- produce an essay;
- successfully participate in a spoken interaction dealing with relevant issues at the B2 level of the CEFR;
- use selected specialist terminology;
- show a good command of selected grammar structures at the CEFR B2 level;

Information on completion of the course: Pro úspěšné ukončení předmětu jsou předepsány v semestru průběžné kontroly, jejichž výsledky jsou započítávány do závěrečného hodnocení. Kurz je určen pro studenty s minimální úrovní anglického jazyka B1 dle SERRJ.
The course is taught annually.
