At the end of the course students should be able to: understand and explain the word-formation system of German complex words and compare this with the Czech system.

  • Lexikology in linguistics
  • Lexem (lexical unit) x Lex x word
  • Free and bound morphemes
  • Nomination (new coinage, sematic derivation, borrowings)
  • Word formation as Nomination
  • Composition, Derivation, shortening
  • gender by word formation
  • Diminutives by word formation
