Course objectives
This course focuses passive translations (German to Czech) of different styles and text types.
Learning outcomes
Having passed this course the students should be able to translate any common text from German into Czech when using common translation tools, such as corpus resources, automatic corrections, etc.
Syllabus
  • Theory: Differences in translating fiction and non-fiction, equivalence according to text style and genre. Translation practice: scientific texts (philology, presentation techniques), fictional texts, coloquial language, comics

Assessment methods
Zápočet: für die aktive Teilnahme an allen Blöcken (es gibt nur drei pro Semester!). Übersetzungen in einzelne Blöcke müssen separat und vollständig erstellt werden. Um ein Kolloquium zu erhalten, ist es auch erforderlich, eine endgültige Übersetzung in der endgültigen Fassung anzufertigen.¨ Zápočet: Active participation at the seminar (presentation of translated texts); compulsory attendance. In order to obtain a kolokvium, it is also necessary to prepare a final translation into the final version.
