Course objectives
The course covers a wide range of activities - from basic grammar through exercises designed to extend vocabulary, listening skills, reading authentic texts, to work in discussion fora. Written and/or spoken discussion forums may be chosen (via Zoom or MS Teams). These forums are mandatory and students may influence their contents and negotiate the topics they are interested in discussing with their moderators. There are also many other activities students can choose from: translation or transcription of subtitles to videos of their own choice (Amara.org), creating new exercises of various types, creating educational quizzes (Kahoot), Ted Talks, Khan Academy (students can choose the topics they are interested in), Minecraft activities, experiential (spoken) simulation games, Book Club, writing activities (Twine), videos from EnglishCentral.com, discussion forums accompanying webinars on hoe to learn foreign languages effectively. We keep adding new exercises and activities so that there is a wide variety of activities for all levels.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to:
- adequately react to a post of their moderator or fellow student in the discussion forum;
- correct the language of their post based on their moderator's feedback;
- write a short piece of text in English (minimum: 50 words);
- if interested, they will be able to create a new exercise to practice English for their fellow students;
- if interested, they will be able to take part in a synchronous online discussion;
Syllabus

They have an opportunity to discuss various topics in the discussion fora of the course, in which students of various fields of study from various MUNI faculties (and also generations) participate.
