Student si vybírá školu zpravidla v místě bydliště. Zaměření praxe je zřetelné z pracovního názvu praxe : praktikant-pomocník učitele. Student tedy vykonává pomocné práce a to jak v přípravě výuky, tak v její realizaci. Není tedy přihlížejícím (hospitujícím), ale spolupracujícím aktérem ve výuce. Rozsah: zpravidla v pátek 4-5 vyučovacích hodin každý týden během semestru. Student si vede pedagogický deník, do kterého zaznamenává činnosti, které ho zaujaly, které vykonával a je dobré pokusit se již zde o sebereflektující přístupy (náhledy).
