Course objectives
The objective of the course is that the students understand the subject of social pedagogy and social aspects of education in a broader context.
Syllabus
  • Topics The character of the current consensus societies, open civil society as heading towards a social balance.The role of social balance mechanisms for sustaining social homeostasis (list). Current problems of consumption and permanent growth. The specific position of education in this set of mechanisms in relation to production. Postmodern view of the world, society and human relationships. Social pedagogy as a specific agent acting in social balance and diversity of its understanding hitherto – how it is related to the industrial society and charitativeness and socialness. Pestalozzi and the theory of social circles: family – municipality and an analogy with family – firm – state, - the dominant of social perspective and movement in the 19th century: P. Natorp and his broad conception of social pedagogy (Platon), T. G. Masaryk and a social issue. 20th century: from pseudocollective to social conceptions of George H. Meada v USA, Sorokin to Lipovetsky at the turn of the century. Broadening of the concept of social pedagogy: a) primary conception- education to social objectives (influence on social system items), b) secondary conception - prevention, i.e. Prevention of social deviations, c) tercial conception - prevention, isolation and punishments as the last possibilities (common field with a branch dealing with problematic children in a moral aspect - and penitentiary activities).
