Course objectives
The main target is to introduce students to contemporary Russia: geography, culture, architecture, customs, cuisine, mentality of the population. Furthermore, to develop language skills and speaking skills by speaking exercises, working with the Internet, Russian press and literature.
Syllabus
  • 1. Geography of Russia. Climatic and environmental conditions, terrain and waters. 2. The political system of the Russian Federation, the state system. 3. Russian state symbols: a coat of arms, flag, anthem. 4. Russian architecture. Foreign influences and originality. 5. Moscow-capital of the RF.Sights. 6. Petersburg. Window to Europe. Sights. 7. Tourist attractions and architectural monuments of RF. Golden Circle. 8. Orthodoxy and Catholicism as the main directions of Christianity. 9. Orthodox traditions, holidays. 10. Russian state holidays, family traditions and customs. 11. Russian cuisine (borsch, ear, science, pelmeni, šašlyk, leaven). 12. Russian folk crafts: wood and ceramic toy (Khokhloma, Gžel, Palech etc).

Teaching methods
6 hours contackt - students work independently with the Russian-speaking lyrics, seeking information on the topics discussed, prepare presentations. In the last week students must hund in presentations to one of the topics.
Assessment methods
Fulfilling requirements: the quality of information and also the correct pronunciation, intonation and vocabulary. In the last week of students transfer presentations to one of the topics.
