Course objectives
The follow-up of the class Basic of Russian language I. Students continue in learning and improvement of Russian phonetics, spelling and orthography, and develop reading skills and understanding of written texts, listening skills by means of listening to original Russian texts, and oral and writing skills. In seminars students are introduced by means of video recordings to Russian history and culture; part of the seminar is devoted to reading and translation from Russian magazines and the Internet. A successful learner from this course will be able to: listen and understand Russian texts, write texts, read texts and talk on these topics - see Course Contents.
Syllabus
  • Lesson 15. - 21. of the Russian exercise book is of teach-yourself type. Additional text from Russian magazines and the Internet are provided.Attention is paid to texts - reading questions and answers, translation, repetition of phrases and sentences. The new vocabulary is fixed in the connections or sentences, as in communicative exercises and in writing. The topics are practiced in the dialogue, which is to ensure lexical accuracy, accent, pronunciation and intonation. Topics: Hotel. Travelling around the city/town. Housing. Food. Shopping. Health.

Teaching methods
Students work up homework and within an individual work they elaborate lexical excercises and essays during the study. Students work individually and they also cooperate in group projects. They continuously read Russian texts. Theoretical training. Practical language training. Discussion, homeworks, reading, hearing.
Assessment methods
Seminar on the need to regularly active participation. Attendance 80% (two absences allowed). The test consists of two parts - a written test and interview. The written test is focused on memorized grammatical features and vocabulary (translation and optional exercises), after successfully writing (75% of correct answers is needed to pass) the student will be tested orally in a conversation, as adopted during the year, topics, reading books in Russian (minimum 80 -100 pages, the book will carry with you ) and listening (audio, video, DVD - min. 1 movie) and a student present a glossary of new words from reading (60 words). Evaluates the grammatical correctness, content and used vocabulary, pronunciation and intonation structure.
