Course objectives
The objective of the subject is to get the basic knowledge of the practical language exercises. The emphasis is placed on the improving of the communicative skills trough the dialog, monologue and discusses in the ambit of actual conversational topics.The practising of the oral and written communication, grammar and communicative skills are the base of the subject. The improving of the oral speech in the lexical and grammar aspect is the basic component. The student are simultaneously improving the listening and reading skills working with texts and actual periodicals.

  • Into the contentual part of the subject have been inserted these basic conversational topics: 1. School, school system in our country. 2. The school system in Russia 3. High school education. Structure of study. 4. Contemporary youth and their participation in society. 5. Environmental problems and their consequences. 6. Art in the young mans life. 7. Music. 8. Theatre. 9. Opera. 10.Cinema.

Teaching methods
Active work in seminars, fulfilling given tasks, autonomous working with press and internet, reading and listening in Russian language recomended.
Assessment methods
Written test based on the topics taught in the class. If the student reaches the pass mark in the written test, a discussion with the teacher will be held. The discussion will be based on the topics from the course, the reading (Russian book – 300 p.), the student will bring and show the book, and listening (audio, video, DVD). The correct grammar, content,vocabulary used, as well as pronunciation and intonation will be evaluated. The student will also provide a vocabulary exercise book, which will contain at least fifty new words.
