Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to know the basic tendencies of Russian literature and drama in the first half of the 20th century in its historical context.
Syllabus
  • The following themes are to be covered in the subject: 1.Literal activities of the 20´s of the 20th century as a complex net of contradictory literal tendencies. 2.Literal creations symbolising stagnation and origin of modernism, e.g. artefacts of neorealism (Zamyatin), magical realism (Bulghakov) etc. 3.Genre transformations of the innovative tendency in the prerevolutional and postrevolutional Russian drama. 4.Dramatical experiments of the oberiuts (V. Chlebnikov, A. Kruchonych, D. Charms, A. Vvednsky etc.) 5.Literal activities in the 20´-30´s of the 20th century. 6.Social criticism in J. Schvarc scenic fairy tales. 7. Russian emigration, first wave and Prague
