Course objectives

Upon completion of the course the students will understand the basic health promotion strategies and be able to explain them in the context of the demographic situation and the health status of the population of the Czech Republic. The students will be able to assess health promotion educational programmes and develop their own health promotion strategies according to defined criteria (age of children, project focus, environment of implementation, etc.)

Learning outcomes

Upon completion of the course the students will: be able to formulate the main issues relating to human health, its protection and promotion; be able to define major prevention programmes in the world and in the Czech Republic; understand the significance of minimum prevention programmes, be able to analyse them according to specific school conditions; be able to describe possible interventions in various developmental stages; be able to assess the necessity of cooperation between health professionals, psychologists and educators; be able to actively search for new information and perform a critical analysis of such information.

Syllabus

• A study of Health support programmes applied at primary schools, also applied out-of-school. Basic information about strategy of health support and health state improving in Czech republic and about health support programmes – primary schools in detail ( Smoking and me, No smoking is normal, Healthy Five, Healthy school…)
