- Course objectives
- By the end of this course the students shall acquire fundamental knowledge of general information of language, of phonetics and phonology. Cultivation of correct pronounciation, orthopy, correct connection of speech sounds, accent, sound means of sentential segmentation and pronountiation of loanwords will be stressed. Orthography. Language, strates of language, norm, codification, language formation. Phonetics and phonology – classification and articulation of speech sounds, correct pronounciation. Relation between spoken and written part of language. Orthography.

- 1. Fundamentals knowledge on language. Language and speech. 2. Phonetics, phonology (fundamental notions). 3. Charakter of Czech speech sounds. 4. Sound and graphic aspects of speech. 5. Orthoepy, norm of correct pronounciation. Orthophony. 6. Czech orthography. Explanation of orthographical phenomena. 7. Language handbooks. Usány of language handbooks.

- Teaching methods
- The form of tuition is a seminar.The seminar is concluded by credit. Students are expected to be prepared for each seminar, their preparation will be verified by the written tests focused on practical language skills.
- Assessment methods
- The subject is concluded by exam. The exam consists of written and oral part.During the semester students are expúected to do their homework regulary. To complete the test attendance is required.
