Course objectives
The aim of the course is to provide students with the opportunity to reflect on gender structures and stereotypes about women, men, transgender people, and people with "difference" sexual orientation, that appear in the school environment and other spheres of social life. The aim of reflecting gender structures in society is to improve the psychosocial and communicative competences of students, specifically their ability to support the individual qualities of pupils and the ability to create a friendly class and school environment that contributes to equal opportunities for all pupils.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to: identify and reflect gender stereotypes in the education system and their lives; analyze the gender structure of society; respond to pedagogical situations related to gender and sexuality (homophobia and transphobia, (sexual) harassment, stereotypes in teaching materials) be familiar with literature focused on gender-sensitive education; open up the topic of gender equality in the class.

  • Self-experience of womanhood and masculinity; Gender stereotypes Gender inequalities in education (LGBTIQ+ pupils, gender segregation in education, school space arrangements, different attitudes of teachers to girls and boys); Problematic school situations (bullying, violence, sexual harassment)
