Course objectives
Students get the information about specifics of visually impaired - psychological issues, rehabilitation, they get also a background in counselling for people with visual impairment in the Czech republic.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to:
- to classify visual impairment from different perspectives and to understand the impact of visual impairment on everyday life and education
- to evaluate procedures in counseling and typhlorehabilitation of a person with visual impairment of varying degrees and types
- recommend special aids for a visually impaired person of varying degrees and types
Syllabus
  • • A person with visual impairment, developmental specifics. Visual impairment as part of a multiple impairment.
  • • Family of a child / adolescent / adult with visual impairment. Specifics, possibilities of support and intervention.
  • • Life of a visually impaired person - identity and independent living. Employment of people with severe visual impairments.
  • • Rehabilitation system in the Czech Republic and abroad. Counseling facilities and social service providers for the visually impaired.
  • • Special aids and aids for the visually impaired. Printing and Braille, typography.
  • • Communication with people with severe visual impairments, spatial orientation and independent movement. Specific needs and competences of visually impaired people and their quality of life.
  • • The importance of social and occupational rehabilitation. Specific competences in visually impaired. Accompaniment of persons with severe visual impairment.
