Course objectives
Aim of the course:   - Gain additional knowledge about   issue of education of children and pupils with health disadvantages -student is well versed in   issue of education of these pupils in   current educational system in the Czech Republic     -acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills necessary for the successful education of students with health disadvantages in primary schools At the end of this course the student will be able to: - Characterize the student with health disadvantages - Draw up an individual education plan for the student (according to the type of health disadvantage) - Perform special education student diagnosis - Compile questions for the interview with parents   - Propose measures that would ensure the special educational needs of such student (+ provide compensatory measures)   in inclusive classroom - Is able to suggest an alternative tutoring for student with health disadvantages.

  • Course syllabus: 1. Historical development of approach towards people with     disabilities (with health disadvantaged). 2. Definitions of terminilogy and illnes. 3. System of education persons with health disadvantaged. 4. Legislation and education of children, pupils and students with health disadvantaged. 5. Integration and inclusion in relation to individuals with health disadvantaged. 6. Individual Educational Plan (IEP). 7. Specifics of working with individuals with health disadvantaged. 8. Somatic, psychological and social aspects of health disadvantage. 9. Comprehensive rehabilitation. 10. Presentation of selected research studies that investigated the issue of education for pupils with health disadvantages.

Teaching methods
Seminar, class discussion, students project and their presentation and discussion.
Assessment methods
Project and their presentation. The project and its content: 1. Create individual education plan pupil/student with health disadvantaged. 2, Create an educational aid pupil with specific disabilities (compensation, working, relaxing, etc.). 3. Prepare lesson in inclusive classroom model with using teaching strategies. 4. On the test case to think about important material-technical and organizational measures necessary for the successful education of pupils with health disadvantaged. 5. Prepare documents for the interview with parents of pupils with health disadvantaged. Projects will be presented in the classroom and discussed. Rated the overall design and presentation of the project. Written test will contain 15 open questions. For successful completion of the course is required 75% of correct answers.
