Course objectives
After completion of this course the student will gain the knowledge in education of individuals with moderate, severe and profound mental disabilities (intellecual disability).
Syllabus
  • 1. The terminological first starting with a focus on pupils with moderate mental disabilities. 2. Characteristics of moderate, severe and profound mental disabilities. Third pupil with moderate, severe, profound mental disabilities. 4. Concurrent person with multiple disabilities. Etiology, forms, diagnostics in terms of counseling and special education teacher education specifics. 5. Consulting services for pupils with moderate, severe, profound mental retardation and multiple disabilities. 6. The system of education of pupils with moderate, severe, profound mental disabilities. 7. Basic special school. 8. Framework educational programs for preschool education. Framework educational program for the field of education special elementary school. 9. Symptomatic speech disorders, augmentative and alternative communication systems used in children and pupils with severe mental disabilities in terms of counseling special educator. 10. Special education diagnostics with a focus on students with learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorders and multiple disabilities in terms of counseling special educator. 11. Therapies used in the counseling services for children and students with learning disabilities. 12. Pupil with autism spectrum disorder, etiology, forms, diagnostics under the guidance facility and the specifics of education. 13. Pupil with Down syndrome, aetiology, forms, diagnostics under the guidance facility specifics of education. 14. Theory of education of pupils with moderate mental disabilities. Didactic principles, methods and forms used in the education of pupils with moderate mental disabilities. Structure preparation counseling intervention worker. 15. Specifics of teaching reading, writing and mathematics for pupils with moderate, severe mental disabilities in terms of counseling special educator. 16. Didactic and other utilities to the education of elementary school special. 17. Career Counseling pupils with moderate mental disabilities. The job opportunities. Form housing. 18.
