Course objectives
The aim of the course is to introduce students to the life situation of pupils with various forms of special educational needs - aspects of difficulties and support of a human and professional nature. Students will gain a solid foundation in the terminology and basic concepts of special education. Students will also be informed about the latest trends and research in the field of special education.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, the student will be oriented: - in the basic concepts of special education; - the key categories of special educational needs; - the principles of inclusion in different educational contexts; - current trends in the field of special education.
Syllabus
Life situation of a pupil with special educational needs. A pupil / child with SEN, his/her specifics, needs. Family of a child with SEN. Interdisciplinary cooperation and its importance. Competencies and roles of a special education teacher. Factors shaping the life situation of a child/pupil with SEN. A pupil with SEN in a school environment.
