Course objectives
The students will get acquitant with the computer support for pupils with special needs aimed at thein specific handicaps (visual and hearing impairments, physical handicaps, specific learning disorders).
Syllabus
  • • text preparation for impaired readers + basics of typography (document design, font, paragraph, page, typographic rules)
  • • creating a comprehensible presentation (text editing, layout adoption, inserting objects: images, sounds, page background, text color, hyperlink color, page naming)
  • • computer-aided communication for people with special needs (e-mail, chat, MSN, Skype, Google)
  • • web accessibility (content, formatting, controls, …)
  • • technology-enhanced learning (e-learning)

Teaching methods
The course is based on theoretical preparation followed by subsequent on-line consultations.
Assessment methods
The following homework is required during the term – a presentation on a selected topic from special pedagogy shall be elaborated – correct in terms of content and form (10 pages at the minimum, including embedded objects). The evaluation consists of four criteria representing 10 points each: content correctness, text comprehensibility, design and layout quality, delivery of the presentation via a selected communication tool. At least 70 % of the points should be gained in order to complete the subject successfully.
