Course objectives
The aim of the course is to equip student with strategies in the education of pupils in a heterogeneous class, focusing on the development of functional literacy. After completing the course the student will be able to apply the intervention and approaches to pupils with special educational needs and establish effective cooperation with parents.
Learning outcomes
After the course, student will be able to:
• Deal with challenging situations in the education and communicate with parents.
• Set the rules in the classroom and work with the climate class.
• Use Differentiated Approach to teaching and assessment of students in heterogeneous classroom.
• Cooperate with an Assistant teacher and draw from the cooperation with school counselling centre.
• Use a variety of strategies and processes to develop the literacy of the students, support the project learning/teaching and use the appropriate approaches to alternative education.
Syllabus
  • 1. Classroom rules. Working with the climate in a heterogeneous class.
  • 2. Staff support in the heterogeneous classroom. Cooperation of the teacher and teacher assistant, their role in education.
  • 3. Challenging situation in the education and solution strategies, communication with legal representatives. The role of school counselling centre.
  • 4. Project teaching in a heterogeneous class. The development of the literacy and key competencies. Learning strategies.
  • 5. Literacy and SLD, approaches in education.
  • 6. Alternative approaches and joint education.
  • 7. Individualization and differentiation in education with regard to the maximum development of the pupil.
  • 8. Teaching, learning outcomes evaluation, assessment of pupils in a heterogeneous class

Interactive lecture, discussion in the context of own teaching practice
