Course objectives
The main objective of the course is a detailled information about pedagogy of visually impaired. At the end of the course, students should understand and use data about: Categories of people with visual impairment, occurrence and causes, children with multiple handicap, deaf-blind children, peculiarities of psychical process by visually impaired, system of schools for visually impaired, counselling, special educational centres, technical aids, visual stimulation.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student should be able to: -Classify visual impairment from a variety of perspectives -Analyze the impact of visual impairment on personality, everyday life and school work -recommend basic aids for everyday life and counseling institutions for a visually impaired client of varying degrees of visual imparment and of different ages
Syllabus
  • Child with visual impairment at pre-school age, school maturity and school readiness (pre-school education, child with disrupted binocular vision and reeducation of these defects)
  • Child with visual impairment in school age. Specifics of teaching. Teacher assistant work.
  • Special and compensatory aids for people with visual impairment and work with them. Use of computer technology in the education of pupils with visual impairment.
  • The system of education of pupils with visual impairment in the Czech Republic.
  • Communication of Persons with severe visual impairment - Braille teaching and writing. Access to information.
  • Counseling - Service providers and their offer
  • Combined disability. Deafblidness.
