Course objectives
Learning outcomes: The aim of the course is to introduce the students to the intervention procedures, which are suitable for working with people with visual impairment. The aim is to present the needs of pupils and students with visual impairment in the educational process by means of simulations and to create the prerequisite for suitable selection of intervention procedures by future teachers. Another goal is to teach students how to work with pupils with visual impairments in their natural environment, to simulate different situations and special skills such as self-care, spatial orientation, and independent movement. The simulations will be done in the SIMU interior and exterior simulator. The basis of this course is student learning experience.
Learning outcomes
Students can work with pupils with visual impairments in their natural environment
Students will be familiarized with the compensatory mechanisms for visual impairment using simulation techniques
Students will use the simulation techniques to familiarize themselves with diagnostic tools and the difficulties arising from the existence of visual impairment.
The student learns the self-mastery and spatial orientation used by people with visual impairment. "The student will test the role of a student with disabilities".
Students will learn to reflect their experiences
Syllabus
  • History of School and Social Intervention in Working with Persons with Visual Impairment.
  •  School counseling facilities.
  •  Social rehabilitation of people with visual impairment.
  •  Communication with visually impaired people and their families.
  •  Simulation of binocular vision disorders and subsequent training with a pupil with disturbed binocular vision, special pedagogical rehabilitation, choice of compensatory mechanisms during the work at school (simulation of disability and subsequent training).
  •  Simulation of impaired color vision and subsequent training with a pupil with reduced color vision, use of edge filters and lens chromatographies, choice of compensatory mechanisms at work at school (simulation of disability and subsequent training).
  •  Simulation of different field of view and subsequent training of work with a pupil with outages in the field of vision, special educational rehabilitation, selection of compensatory mechanisms at work at school (simulation of disability and subsequent training).
  •  Simulation of different type of low vision, practical training of the work of the weak-sighted pupil, choice of compensatory mechanisms at work in the classroom (simulation of disability and subsequent training).
  •  Simulation of practical and absolute blindness, practical training of the blind pupil, selection of compensatory mechanisms at work in the classroom (simulation of disability and subsequent training).
  •  Training of teaching: self-service of a visually impaired pupil (training in an interior simulator).
  •  Practice the spatial orientation and the individual movement of the pupil with visual impairment in microspace and macrosphere (training on a special simulation path).
