Course objectives
The main objectives of the course are the following:
- To define basic statistical concepts;
- To code data to electronical form;
- To determine measures of central tendency and measures of variability;
- To use statistical methods.
Syllabus
  • 1. The basic statistical concepts. The elementary evaluation of data. Statistical set and unit.
  • 2. The measures of central tendency (mean, median, modus) and measures of variability (range, variance, standard deviation).
  • 3. Normal distribution, probability, verification of hypotheses.

Teaching methods
Theoretical preparation in the form of a lecture with independent study of specialized sources.
Assessment methods
Two short tests during the semester, short essay, written final test, which will contain theoretical and practical tasks. For the successful passing a minimum is 50 % correct answers.
