Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the problems of acquired neurogenic communication disorders with regard to individual bases of dominant cause. At the end of the course the student will know the etiological factors, the classification of acquired neurogenic disorders of communication, will be fully acquainted with the manifestations of individual forms, diagnostic and therapeutic approaches. The subject reflects the current concept of logopedic intervention targeting all age and disability target groups.
Learning outcomes
the student is oriented in individual forms of acquired neurogenic communication disorders; orientated in the specific speechoption intervention; knows diagnostic and therapeutic approaches used in Czech and foreign logopedic practice;can think of material to develop the communication skills.
Syllabus
  • The concept and etiology of acquired neurogenic communication disorders.
  • Apraxia (speech, oral, structural) - terminology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, diagnostics, therapy, prevention and education.
  • Aphasia, alexia, agraphy - terminology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, diagnostics, therapy, prevention and education.
  • Cognitive communication disorders - terminology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, diagnostics, therapy, prevention and education.
  • Dysarthria obtained - terminology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, diagnostics, therapy, prevention and education.
  • Dysphagia - terminology, etiology, symptomatology, classification, diagnostics, therapy, prevention and education.
  • Disturbed communication ability in people with combined disabilities. Specifics of care for adults with combined disabilities.
  • Diagnostic materials and therapeutic programs and procedures for speech and language disorders in Czech and foreign practice.
  • Specifics of logopedic intervention in people with neurogenic communication disorder.
