Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with the system of counseling: school counseling centers and school counseling facilities: special pedagogical centers, pedagogical-psychological counseling centers, educational care centers. Personnel occupation, standards of activity. Counseling for parents and children with early-stage disabilities, early intervention, early care centers; early intervention. Health consulting, logopedic ambulance. Legislative action on counseling.
Learning outcomes
• Student knows the conditions of provision of counseling services in schools and school counseling facilities;
• knows legislative measures related to the provision of advisory services;
• Focuses on staffing, activities and services delivered in counseling facilities;
• orientated in the time areas of hearing impairment;
• Has knowledge of interdisciplinary cooperation.

  • • Teamwork for comprehensive diagnostic examination of auditory defects and interdisciplinary relationships.
  • • Classification of defects and hearing disorders.
  • • Definition of a counseling system for individuals with special educational needs in the Czech Republic.
  • • Legislative conditions for the provision of advisory services.
  • • Early Care Centers for Hearing Impaired - Activities and staffing.
  • • Special Educational Centers for the Hearing Impaired - Activity and Personnel Occupation.
  • • Pre-professional and professional preparation of pupils with hearing impairment.
  • • Supporting the employment of people with hearing impairment. Professional counseling.
  • • Hearing impairment in adulthood and in old age.
  • • Tinnitus.
  • • Hearing defect and other associated disabilities

teoreticaly preparing, practicly teaching, group work, homeworks, discussion
Assessment methods
Written test (it is necessary to successfully cope with 75% correct answers) and oral exam, practical exam. Processing a case study of an individual with hearing impairment at pre-school or school age reflecting the level of communication skills achieved by an individual.
