Course objectives
The aim of the course is to acquaint students with basic special pedagogical diagnostic tools and procedures in sighted and blind children, pupils and students.
Learning outcomes
Student will be able to: -understand the procedures for investigating functional vision in special diagnostics -define possible signs of visual impairment or visual defects that can be recognized by the parent and educator - to recommend aids for everyday life of a person with a visual impairment depending on the degree and type of disability - Analyze the basic needs and measures for school work based on the degree of disability, the vision and the age of the child
Syllabus
  • • Tests of functional vision, visual therapy and functional vision assessment. • Significance of diagnostics of functional vision with focus on age and degree of visual impairment. • Special pedagogical diagnostics of visual functions and interdisciplinary cooperation in the diagnostic process. • Diagnostics of visual function in early and pre-school children. • Diagnostics of visual functions and related special educational needs in school-age children. • Diagnostics of visual functions during adolescence and adulthood. • Diagnostics of disorders in binocular vision and its significance. Special procedures. • Diagnostics of visual impairment in a child with multiple disability.
