Course objectives
The course aims to provide students with basic insight into the field of social pathology and selected social pathological phenomena with which the educator can most often encounter. Attention will be paid to behavioral problems such as aggression and bullying, truancy, delinquency and criminality, drug abuse and other pathological addiction. At the end of the course students will be able to define basic terms, explain and define the specific socio-pathological phenomena and understand the terms of their origin and at the same time will be able to outline possible solutions. Students will understand the principles of primary prevention and are aware of the interdependence and mutual cooperation conditionality schools, families and other institutions involved in solving problematic life situations of individuals or groups.
Syllabus
  • 1) The social pathology - theoretical definition of the course, introduction to basic concepts 2) Social Deviance - definition, specification. Norma and order in society, social control and conformity. Anomy. Theories of social deviance. The causes of deviance. Classification of social deviance. 3) Socialization and resocialization, prevention and correction - primary, secondary and tertiary socialization. Degrees of prevention. Primary prevention in schools and minimal preventive program. 4) Pedagogue and his competence in the area of ​​social pathologies  . Teacher, school educational consultant, school methodist of prevention, leisure educator, school psychologist, teaching assistant. Social educator. 5) The system of educational and psychological counseling in the area of social pathologies   - educational consultant, school counseling office, pedagogical and psychological counseling, educational care centers for children and youth. 6) Conduct disorders - definition, etiology and classification of behavioral disorders, behavioral disorders x   behavioral problems 7) Truancy as a specific phenomenon in the school environment. Definition, etiology, classification and correction. 8) aggression and bullying among children. Definition, etiology, classification, actors bullying, signs of bullying, how to resolve. Workplace violence - mobbing, bossing. 9) Crime and Delinquency as a serious form of social pathology. Definition, etiology, classification, correction, prevention. 10) Pathological addictions - the definition of addiction, types of addiction. Addictive and impulsive disorders (gambling and other addictive disorders variants). 11) Drugs as the current threat of   life of the individual. Definition of drug addiction and its species. The development of drug dependence. Prevention and correction. 12) Outline of other socially pathological phenomena threatening individuals and society (homelessness, prostitution, divorce, violence in the family  , aggression, xenophobia, racism, suicidality, extreme movements, sects and cults, the negative influence of the mass media, globalization). Social consequences in relation to   individuals and society. Possible solutions, social assistance, prevention.

Teaching methods
The seminar, lecture, group discussion, preparation of homework and presentations.
Assessment methods
Class participation, homework, presentation of the chosen topic at the seminar, Thesis, test. The condition for passing the course is at active participation in the seminar. Student may miss up to 2x. To pass the course the student is obliged to fulfill all obligations of the course. The student must in due time and form satisfactory to hand over all ongoing tasks including text and subsequent presentation on a chosen topic. Individual assignment ongoing tasks, topics and award presentations and data to which it is necessary to hand over individual tasks a student finds in the course moodlinka: After completion of all ongoing requirements of the course, students prepare a final work. Entering the final thesis: Students choose one topic and writes a final thesis in the range of 5-7 pages (submission of work in .doc format, spacing 1, font Times New Roman 12, justified). Work will include selected theoretical definition of the phenomenon and its subsequent development according to the needs of the chosen topic. The work must meet all the formal requirements, such as respected scope of work, compliance citation ethics (used in the citation standard APA), the fulfillment of the objectives of the work (ie. Work will include the defined objective and conclusion) and proof of qualifications in relation to the content work together using appropriate professional literature (student chooses at least 5 relevant professional resorces). Date of submission of thesis finds a student in moodlince course. Thesis topics: • Development of a model strategy for solving a particular social pathological phenomenon, with a clear definition of the role of social pedagogue in solving the problem and its cooperation with specialized institutions - the problem and the possible solution strategy, the role of social pedagogy and other professional institutions of the involved. • Development of case studies of selected socio-pathological phenomena in the society and its negative consequences for the personality of the individual, family, or company. At the end of the course the student is required to pass a written test consisting of   open and closed questions on topics 1-11 (see the syllabus of the course), the test content will consist of compulsory literature and content of the seminars. The test will be evaluated in terms   pass - fail. For passing the test is necessary to achieve a score between 30-20 points.
