Course objectives
The course aims to master the principles of teaching speaking skills in teaching Russian at Czech elementary schools. Emphasis is on the development of students' ability to choose adequate methodological procedures and the creation of appropriate teaching aids, their evaluation and practical use for the development of speaking skills with regard to learners' age and expected outcomes. Students will be guided to reflect on the teaching process, learners' needs, strategies used to achieve didactic goals.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course, students will be able to choose and apply appropriate teaching methods that support the development of students' speaking skills. Students will be able to select, develop or adapt didactic materials with regard to the specific needs of students. Students will be able to reflect on the teaching process, evaluate the needs of students, the strategies used to achieve didactic goals.
Syllabus
  • 1. Speech skills and its development in Russian language lessons according to basic curricular documents (SERRJ, RVP ZV and Standards ZV).
  • 2. Methodology of developing reading reading skills. Working with written text.
  • 3. Methodology of developing speech listening skills. Working with audio text.
  • 4. Methodology of developing speech writing skills.
  • 5. Methodology of speech speaking skills development.
  • 6. Interaction exercises in teaching Russian.
  • 7. Learning styles and theory of foreign language acquisition.
  • 8. Pupils with special learning needs.
  • 9. Corrective feedback and evaluation in Russian language teaching.
  • 10. Russian language teacher, position, professional development and perspectives. Student portfolio.
