Course objectives
At the end of this course the student will: able to explain the purpose and importance of engineering and technical activities (development potential mental and manual skills); equipped with basic technical knowledge and skills in selected technical disciplines;
Syllabus
  • 1.Comenius from the present day. Technical training in the basic general education. Some question the status quo and prospects of teaching technical subjects.
  • 2.The system of education and technical education abroad. Educational programs, curriculum and standards of technical education in primary schools in the Czech Republic.
  • 3.Personality teachers and professional qualifications, profile graduate training of the course technical and information education.
  • 4.Technology as a component of human culture. Technology products and man. Looking to the history of technology.
  • 5.Project management - a new part of technical knowledge.
  • 6.System thinking, or when common sense is not enough.
  • 7.Information, information systems and computers in the information society.

Teaching methods
Study of literature and presentation of assigned topics before the seminar group.
Assessment methods
Final projects - A significant discovery in the history of technology - brief characteristics, time scaling (the wider context - Cross-curriculum), link to the current use of technology, the use of the school experience (when, why, what expectations) - Presentation of the seminar group or submit the text in the range min. 2 pages in electronic form.
