Course objectives
The objective of the course is to present various emergency situations, show the students how to act in emergency situations, and which unit of the Integrated Rescue Service to contact in case of emergency. The students will learn about fire prevention and first aid provision. A partial objective is to present the issue of protecting students and the general public during evacuation (evacuation bag, emergency exits in buildings, organization of evacuation), and protection of property. Last but not least, the students will be prepared for some types of emergency situations that can occur in elementary school.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course the students will:
be able to identify an emergency situation, understand the risks and other associated aspects;
be able to protect themselves or assigned persons (children) and do everything possible for human protection;
know the basic principles of first aid and general crisis intervention.
Syllabus
  • Content of lectures:
  • 1. Emergency and crisis situations, classification of emergency situations, civil protection, civil defense; safety literacy/competence, readiness.
  • 2. Warning and emergency information of the population. Evacuation.
  • 3. Integrated rescue system, IRS structure, emergency calls;
  • 4. Natural emergencies;
  • 5. Floods;
  • 6. Fire prevention.
  • 7.Electric shock.
  • 8.Individual protection.
  • 9.Anthropogenic emergencies.
  • 10. Orientation in the field.
  • 11.Web portal "Fire and Rescue Service of the Czech Republic".
  • 12.Study basis II - content and importance of education in the emergency situation.
