Course objectives
Introduction to graphic art. Basic overview of printmaking technologies. Required capability to describe and explain principles of best known technologies of printmaking. Students are mastering practical procedures of blockprinting and intaglioprinting.
Syllabus
  • Printmaking as a specific form of graphic artvork;
  • Graphic fine-art, graphic design, graphic reproduction;
  • Overview of traditional printmaking methods and techniques;
  • Matrix processing and printing ways of relief printing - linocut,woodcut and wood-engrawing;
  • Intaglio process - drypoint, etching, aquatint, mezzotint, copper engraving;
  • Lithographic principle and serigraphy;
  • Multicolor printing;
  • Means of expression and technological identification of various graphic artefacts;
  • Overview of printmaking history.

Assessment methods
Seminar, practical training in the workroom. Homeworking is expected. Course is completed with credit. Requirements: active participation on lessons, good level of practical works, test of printmaking technology.
