Course objectives
The aim is to equip students with basic knowledge of pedagogical-psychological assessment as a discipline. Seeks to purposefully engaged in child's personality, abilities, knowledge, skills, needs and specificities and based on the findings supported the development of the personality of each child. It provides arguments for individualisation and differentiation in the educational process.
Learning outcomes
At the end of this course the student will be able to: • Define basic concepts of pedagogical-psychological diagnostics; • Describe the course of the diagnostic process in kindergarten; • Explain the essence of individual types of pedagogical-psychological diagnostics; • characterize basic diagnostic methods; • illustrate the use of given diagnostic methods on specific cases; • pronounce pedagogical diagnoses and forecasts based on typical expressions; • perform self-diagnosis of the teacher; • to interpret the results of a psychological or special pedagogical examination, to choose a suitable diagnostic tool, to use commonly available data about the pupil in school practice, to present results in a clear way to colleagues and parents; • to propose implementation and action on an individual level based on the results of the examination.
Syllabus
  • 1. Pedagogical and psychological assessment as a discipline, its concept, goals, objectives. 2. Analysis of basic methods of pedagogical assessment, their use in diagnostic activities kindergarten teacher. 3. Assessment peer group. 4. School readiness assessment. Assessment assumptions of reading and writing, specific learning disabilities. 5. Assessment developmental specifics of preschool children (0-8 years). 6. Assessment process. The teacher's role in assessment activities, possible errors and distortions. 7. Assessment educational achievements and learning outcomes at the end of the preschool period. 8. Cooperation between school and counseling centers. 9. Interpretation of reports from counseling centers. 10. Support system for children with special educational needs. 11. Creating portfolios children. 12. Teacher self assessement.
