Course objectives
The aim of the course is to conceive and implement creative projects in pre-school education and on their basis to reflect and analyse the educational process and identify key situations affecting its quality.
Learning outcomes
Upon completion of the course, the student will be able to: - identify experiential moments in a child's life that can become the starting point for his/her creative activities (with emphasis on the child's diverse forms of expression) - to identify, on the example of real pedagogical situations (school practice), the manifestations of children's creativity in artistic activities and in everyday situations of preschool education. - Reflect on art activities in kindergarten, naming key situations that support or limit the child's active approach to his/her own development. - Apply own experiences, analysing situations from recordings in confrontation with theoretical knowledge. - reflect and analyse the process, identify key situations affecting the quality of teaching. - apply integrative concepts, experiential forms and basic principles of creativity in pre-school education based on acquired knowledge and experience to design creative activities in such a way as to promote the child's active approach and independence to the maximum extent possible; - apply the principles of project-based learning to pre-school education, accepting the child as a co-creator of the content of education (responding to his/her interest in exploring, discovering and the need to learn something new). - Apply knowledge in real pedagogical practice by preparing, implementing a student creative project with a group of preschool children.
Syllabus
  • - Implementation of creative activities in cooperation with art students in the form of a joint workshop - deepening of own experience as a basis for thinking about the content of art projects (application of the principles of project-based learning). Cooperation expanding knowledge of technological character, creative work with new media and other topics. - Culture and art and the world around the child as a source of experience. Shaping children's relationship to cultural values, art and the environment through creativity. - Characteristics of creative activities, benefits for pre-school children, limits to the development of creativity in kindergarten. Identification of manifestations of creativity in pedagogical practice. Analysis of specific phenomena, situations and interactions from the perspective of the field didactics. - Application of new knowledge and gaining experience in real pedagogical practice through preparation, implementation and reflection of a student creative project with a group of preschool children. - Applying the integrative concept of preschool education and experiential learning (multidisciplinary projects). Respect for the child and his/her individual characteristics, difference as a source for mutual learning enrichment (elementary level peer learning). - Emphasis on experimental and playful activities with open endings, chance as a challenge to explore and find diverse solutions. - Targeted preschool learning and flexible solutions to learning situations. - Reflective didactic analysis of creative student projects. Assessment methods
active participation in the seminar, self-study (tutorial, literature), active participation (workshops, etc.), preparation and implementation of a series of follow-up creative activities - creative student project, presentation of outputs in the form of a processed annotated record (audio, video, photo) and analysis of the educational process, own and joint reflection in the form of a colloquium. Fulfillment of the main task: continuous preparation of an art project (mandatory consultations), implementation the project within the subject Reflective practice for art projects and reflection within the seminar. Submission of the evaluation form from the accompanying kindergarten teacher (Appendix 15 - methodology) and the final presentation of the implemented (and subsequent unrealized activities) art project or art (thematic) series. Presentation in the form of an annotated audio, video or photo sequences. Reflection. The created file - a coherent text supplemented by expanding knowledge resulting from the joint final reflection together with photo and video documentation - is stored in the submission room by a specified date.
