Course objectives
The aim of the course is to know and apply the principles of effective pedagogical communication when leading small teams or providing collegial mentoring; understand the specifics in communicating with the parents of children and other professionals (special educator, psychologist, etc.); understand basic human needs and their reflection in communication, development of skills and skills associated with peer support (mentoring).
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: describe the principles and possibilities of mentoring in education; • identify the phases of the GROW model and interview it; apply the principles of effective communication in interviews with other professionals and parents; • practice active listening in pairs and triplets; • Understand the basic concepts and skills of the mentor lead a small team of colleagues to collaborate and develop a kindergarten; reflect critically on their own way of communication; to connect knowledge with the subject Mentoring and continuous practice.
Syllabus
  • 1.-2. Introduction to coaching and mentoring - the role of mentor, Mentoring and its forms in the context of education 3.-4. Building and specifics of mentor-mentee relationship; Mentor's competence and communication strategy, active listening 5.-6. Planning, formulation and implementation of individual steps; GROW model; Expert and partner approach in leading people and small teams 7.-8. Leading small teams. Work with change. 9. -10. Mentor Quality, Mentor Traps, Mentor Code of Ethics; Mentoring benefits for mentee, mentor, organization 11. - 12. Communication with other professionals (SPC, PPP) and parents based on their own experiences and interviews with practicing students will give students practical feedback on their activities.
