Course objectives
At the end of the course students should be able to:- understand of notional apparatus and mastering elementar science system of pedagogy ; - create a database of basic technical terms and their mutual connections, -use the information acquired in the subject to expand one’s own perspective of the studied issues; -understand and explain historical-social conditionality of education; -compare individual pedagogical views and conceptions of education in specific historical periods and today too; -interpret ideas of the most considerable world's and Czech pedagogy representatives, understand (použil bych name) benefits of their works for the present and future development too.
Syllabus
  • 1.Pedagogy, subject of pedagogy, origin, structure. Relation of pedagogy to other sciences.Meaning of pedagogic science - pedagogy as directive, explorative and explantive theory. 2.Pedagogic research and methodology. 3.Conception of upbringing and her conditionality. Education and educational reality. Educational processes. Upbringing, education, teaching and learning, upbringing in narrower sense. 4.Purposes of upbringing and allowance principles. 5.Upbringing functions. 6.Resources and forms of upbringing. 7.Anthropogenic factors of upbringing (treacher and educated subject) and their mutual relations in allowance of the process 8. History of pedagogic thinking. Subject of pedagogy history. Beginning of pedagogic thinking in old Greece and Rome culture. Antique thinkers (Sokrates, Platon, Aristoteles, Quintilianus). 9. Upbringing and school in medieval times. Scholastic. Tomas Akvinsky. 10. Renaissance pedagogy (More, Rabelais, da Feltre, Montaigne) Reformation and anti-reformation pedagogy. 11. J.A. Komenský pedagogic legacy (life, work and pedagogic system). 12. Pedagogic thinking development in 17.-19. century - Locke, Rousseau, Pestalozzi, Herbart, Fröbel, Diesterweg, Ušinskij, Tolstoj, Bosco, Spencer, Dewey et al. 13. Czech education and pedagogy development (Ryba, Amerling, Filcík, Svoboda, Lindner, Masaryk, Kádner, Chlup, Příhoda et al..) 14. Foreign pedagogic reformism. Democratic tradition of Czech School. 15. Main streams of pedagogy in 20. century - experimental, existentialist, neotomistical, anti-authoritative, Soviet, post modernistic pedagogy. 16. Foreign pedagogic systems and Czech progressive tradition as inspiration for modern Czech School: waldorf, montessory, frainet, dalton school, project Start together, Health school et al.. Teaching methods
Lecture, consultation. Theoretical preparation in the form of a lecture with independent study of specialized sources.
Assessment methods
Credit test. The written exam consists of 30 questions , 15 from general peadagogy and 15 from the history of education. To pass the exam it is required to answer at least 12 of the former and 12 of the latter part correctly, i.e. 24 correct answers in total.
