The Students are expected to be at the intermediate level as the basic study material is a coursebook at the upper-intermediate level.

Course objectives
The main objective of the course is to develop speaking, reading, writing and listening skills at upper-intermediate level. The basic study material is coursebook New English File Upper-Intermediate supplemented by various additional materials.
At the end of the course students should be able to: discuss everyday topics, communicate in everyday situations, read and listen to authentic texts at upper-intermediate level and communicate in the language fluently.

  • The basic study material is the coursebook New English File UPPER- INTERMEDIATE (Student's book and Workbook), see Literature below. The syllabus includes Units 5 - 6, the focus is on speaking and listening activities and development of students' vocabulary.

Assessment methods
Requirements: assigned homework, i.e. prepare the corresponding section of the Unit (e.g. in section 1A read the text, study the vocabulary); active participation; progress tests
Methods: discussions, group work activities, pair work activities, listening and reading tasks. The lessons will be focused on speaking, listening and reading. Credit test in January: summary of Units 5 - 6
