Course objectives
The course follows the Theory and Methodology of Health Education 1 and in the form of consultation contributes to the training of teachers teaching primary school on the themes and human health. The aim is to apply the theoretical knowledge on the issue of health protection and support to educational and practical level. Emphasis is placed on the use of specific practical skills in school and extracurricular environment.
Learning outcomes
The students will be able to propose appropriate health promotion measures aimed at younger school-aged children, both curricular and extra-curricular, analyse educational documents and use them to assess school educational programmes and other documents in terms of health promotion, and assess the didactic system. They will be able to develop a thematic plan, and based on a detailed didactic analysis of the learning content of the educational area Man and health prepare and present a section of the learning content. The students will be able to understand the components of a physical activity regimen and will be able to participate in the development of the conditions for appropriate physical activity regimen for students in school and outside school.
Syllabus
  • 1. Man and Health - defining themes in current educational documents, practical applications in school curricula, textbooks and other didactic apparatus. 2. Methods and possibilities of health education. Health education teachers in daily practice. (Education legislation relating to the protection and promotion of health.) 3. Didactic transformation following topics: - Human body - First aid - Health Care - Nutrition and health (including food preparation) - Fundamentals of family and sex education - Addictive substances and health, addictive behavior - Personal safety - Public emergencies 4. Current health promotion programs in the school environment. Preparing school and class projects. 5. Minimum preventive program for prevention of pathological social phenomena for schools, the role of school prevention at the primary school. 6. Consultancy extracurricular organizations, consulting and training centers.

Teaching methods
The course consists of seminars (max. 20 students), requires the active involvement of students. Students at the seminar among others present project task and participate in the evaluation of projects of other students.
