Course objectives
The aim of the course is to create the right physical habits in the teaching of individual basketball skills and basic game combinations. Students will also be introduced to basic basketball rules.
Learning outcomes
When successfully completing the course, the student will be able to:
- control the ball,
- use individual offensive skills,
- use individual defensive skills,
- use the basic "give and go" combination of play and understand the nature of fast break situation,
- characterize basketball and master basketball rules.
Syllabus
  • Blocks:
  • 1. ballhandling, dribbling, moving with and without the ball,
  • 2. shooting (lay-up, set shot),
  • 3. passing and catching the ball,
  • 4. rebounding, moving without the ball,
  • 5. guarding the player with/without the ball, individual defensive skills against two opponents,
  • 6. offensive transition (fast break 3 on 2, 2 on 1), "give and go".

Assessment methods
80% attendance
Credit is based on two parts: practical test of individual basketball skills and basic game combinations and an e-learning test of basketball rules.
Practical test:
1. Moving with ball (dribble technique, change of direction, change of speed), lay-up (right and left side),
2. "give and go" situation, drive and finishing with shot,
3. game situation 3-on-3, full court.

E-learning test from basketball rules: 30 questions in given time.

The overal grade will be based on score students gain from the test. Students must pass each part of the test to earn the credits. Failing one part of the test means failing the test as a whole.
