Course objectives
The course is designed to provide students with knowledge in various sport disciplines,and sport related topics while successfully mastering reading comprehension and oral as well as written reproduction in English. At the end of the course the students are required to have reached the level B1+ of CEF. The output of this course is an exam. The exam is both written and oral. All language skills will be tested: writing, listening, reading and speaking The written part comprises grammar, vocabulary, listening, and writing an e-mail letter. Oral part will deal with the topics included in the materials to study.
Learning outcomes
Graduates of this course will acquire basic command of professional terminology in sport science, health, anatomy and various sport disciplines. By the end of the course students will be able to effectively deliver presentations in English. In addition, students will gain better command of professionally relevant grammatical phenomena, where the improvement of mainly reproductive communication skills (proper pronunciation, correct spelling, apt use of stylistic registers in written communication and acquisition of basic lexical knowledge) will be emphasized and their eventual mastery expected.

Teaching methods
Language seminar: speaking,reading, listening, writing, presenting
Assessment methods
The course is taught in the form of seminars. Students will find topics for each week in the interactive syllabus section ("interaktivní osnova"), and prepare them for the following classes. The items: U3 etc. indicate the number of a unit in the above grammar textbook. The course is completed by an examination.

Teacher's information
The exam at the end of the course comprises testing all language skills: speaking, reading, writing, listening. The written part comprises 2 listening tasks (gap filling + T/F questions), 2 reading tasks (gap filling, supplying the right paragraph title), 7 grammar tasks - sentence transformation (conditional clauses + passive voice + modal verbs), multiple choice (much, many, few + prepositions), inf.+-ing, articles, modal verbs, vocabulary (matching exercise) + writing an e-mail letter within an academic environment. The oral part will be based on the 13 topics posted in the materials to study.
