Course objectives
The course deals with three areas: 1. Theories of motivation and their application in management, goal setting, evaluation and remuneration of employees; 2. leadership and team work theories and their application in team building and management; 3. fundamentals of psychodiagnostics and their application in personnel selection, evaluation and development of employees. Students will gain an overview of the most influential theories and approaches in the above mentioned areas and learn how to use them in managerial practice.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course students should be able to: - Recognize suitable and unsuitable methods of employee selection, asses quality of personnel selection. - Ask questions in the selection interview that allow assessing competencies of the candidate. - Set measurable performance targets and use them to manage employee performance. - Set up an employee evaluation system so that employees have good feedback on their work and have relevant development goals. - Set the basic parameters of the remuneration system to be perceived as fair and to increase employee motivation. - Set up the tasks, rights and responsibilities of employees and the management system so that employees have the highest internal motivation for working in the organization and have a positive attitude towards the manager and the organization as a whole. - Assess team strengths and reserves related to team size and dynamics, team relationships and role division within the team. - Assess his/her own leadership style and be aware of limitations of this style.
